Laser teeth whitening

The perfect smile is everyone's dream! Having beautiful, healthy and white teeth allows you to feel more confident and more casual in communicating with others.
Nowadays, numerous whitening techniques are available, from do-it-yourself at home to professional techniques performed in dental offices. Of the latter, the most widely used is tooth whitening using LED or plasma lamps; however, this is not the safest or most effective technique.

For the past few years, in fact, the use of lasers as a whitening technique has also been introduced in the dental field, capable of giving considerably better results than classic lamps. Three types of lasers are generally used in cosmetic dentistry: diode, Argon and CO2 lasers. Of these, the diode laser is the one that offers a better whitening effect, as its energy promotes the penetration of the product within the dental tissue with greater intensity.

Laser teeth whitening is a technique that is safe, painless, and has no contraindications.

For this reason, it is also recommended for those who suffer from tooth sensitivity. It has longer lasting effects than traditional lamps and is confirmed to be the fastest, most innovative and effective method of achieving whiter teeth. In addition to whitening, the laser is capable of removing the deepest discoloration and pigmentation of teeth.

The first visit is essential to assess the feasibility of treatment. After a careful examination of the mouth, checking for hygiene, the presence of any cavities, devitalizations and/or pathologies that would preclude its operation, the shade of whiteness of one's teeth and the shade of whiteness one wants to achieve are identified with the help of a shade guide. Afterwards, masks will be prepared to be used for post-treatment home maintenance.

The treatment

Prior to the whitening stage, a dental hygiene session is required. After that, a protective compound is applied to the gums while a special whitening gel is applied to the teeth. Using the laser activates and intensifies the action of the gel, which penetrates deep into the enamel. The product is allowed to work for 15 to 30 minutes depending on the shade. During the treatment, both doctor and patient will wear special glasses to protect their eyesight.

Laser teeth whitening is done in a single session, and once finished, it is advisable to refrain from using coffee, tea, tobacco, and particularly colorful foods and drinks that could stain the enamel.
